The shoot day
When the big day finally arrived, the air was filled with excitement. We had planned a heartwarming surprise for them to ease into the shoot. As soon as Diksha and Kshitij stepped into the studio, we invited them to dance together, a simple, spontaneous moment that led to genuine smiles and laughter. The connection between them was palpable—they weren’t just dancing, they were celebrating their journey together.
They sang to each other, showered with petals, and we captured these intimate moments to reflect the love they’ve built over the years. This set the tone for the rest of the shoot, making every frame feel authentic and filled with affection.
Behind the Scenes
Look first – Lilac Dress
Diksha and Kshitij envisioned a magical, fairytale-like maternity shoot, and for that, Diksha opted for a dreamy lilac dress, while Kshitij complemented her in a smart tuxedo with a wine-colored lapel. Styling the couple is a crucial part of my session, and I always ensure we discuss the husband’s outfit in advance to create a cohesive look.
To enhance the ethereal feel, I chose a monochromatic setup. Monochrome has a unique way of transporting us to a magical world, and it never fails to bring out the beauty of the moment.
Of course, the secret ingredient that brings it all together is the lighting. As a photographer, I believe lighting is the “oomph” factor—it has the power to either make or break an image.
Look second – Black Bodycon
For the second look, we went with a timeless black bodycon dress. As Donatella Versace famously said, “Black is the color of power, mystery, sophistication, and intelligence.”
I aimed to create classy, sophisticated shots that would highlight Diksha and Kshitij’s chemistry. The look they pulled off was one of elegance—a lady and gentleman dressed for a glamorous cocktail party, perhaps walking the streets of London. They carried it off beautifully.
Look third – Blazer
The third look was fun yet sophisticated. I wanted to showcase their playful side, but in a loving, elegant way. We chose a structured, double-breasted blazer for Diksha, which beautifully accentuated her shoulders and complemented her figure.
Pregnancy is such a beautiful phase—it’s a testament to the immense capability of women to bring new life into the world. It’s awe-inspiring to witness how a woman can nurture a new soul and grow a human being within her.
final looks
The results were breathtaking. Each image encapsulated the strength of their bond, the excitement of becoming parents, and the joy they have shared since childhood. Diksha and Kshitij’s shoot wasn’t just a maternity session—it was a visual love letter to the life they’ve built together.
